The Legend of Zelda – The Phantom Hourglass is a sequel to the GameCube’s Zelda: the Wind Waker. The story picks up after the events of The Wind Waker game. The Game is in full 3D, which is a first on any Zelda games on portable consoles. It is a good buy, because anyone can actually enjoy the game without even knowing of the events that occurred on Wind Waker.
The story begins with Link sailing with his pirate buddies. He is accompanied by Zelda, who changed her name to Tetra. At that time, the group is searching for a mysterious and fabled ghost ship. It is said to contain a great treasure, which is a must have for pirates. Though the problem is that it also is dangerous enough since it makes people disappear. The ship magically appears once in a while, and Link and his friends are waiting for the time that it would appear. But when it did, something went wrong and the mysterious ghost ship went away with the fog. Link tries to go after it but got washed away by the waves.
Link wakes up on a mysterious island and is greeted by an amnesiac fairy that takes Link to a kind old man who explains the things he know about the ghost ship. He warns you not to chase after it. Afterwards, you’ll be able to learn how to fight. Link is equipped with a sword and shield. You can attack using the stylus. Simply tapping an enemy would make Link execute a normal attack. A quick swiping movement would make Link do a broader slash. Spin attack can be executed by drawing a circle on Link. You can also roll by drawing small circles. Moving around the map is simple. Just tap the place that you want Link to walk to. Link can also pick up items that he also used on other Zelda games like bombs, bombchus (which are mobile bombs), boomerang, a hook shot and bow and arrow. You can use these items to attack enemies. These items can also be used to solve some puzzles and mazes. The puzzles and dungeons on this game may be easier for fans of Zelda games. In addition to the new gameplay scheme, you can also shout on the microphone of DS to execute voice commands. This makes the game all the more interesting. You’ll also be able to use a ship to go from island to island. The game is fairly easy, you can probably finish it for about 15 hours if you don’t hunt down the treasures and do other side quests.
Overall, Zelda – The phantom hourglass is a game that you definitely must buy. This game has all the things that can entertain you for hours.
