Over the years, Nintendo created and sold millions despite the insufficient user-base of the N64. And Zelda fanatics have been wondering on when they can get a hold of another outstanding Zelda game before the console’s last appearance. It was six years before Nintendo released sequels of the Zelda franchise and before that they left us with the Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time game.

Waiting six years is unbearable but in May 1999 IGN64 stated that Nintendo is planning to release a sequel of the acclaimed Ocarina of Time game. The sequel was said to be improved accompanied by an expansion pak of 4 MB. The game that was released back then was given the name Zelda: Gaiden which is temporary and then was momentarily given the name of Zelda: Mask of Majora and from then on the title Mask of Majora was the official name of the sequel. That being settled Link is now ready to take on another quest and save the world.
Here are the features of the Majora’s Mask game:
- Termina, a brand new 3D world that is open
- Series of real-time night or day
- 3 different days
- You can play a young Link
- New weapons, spells and swords can be acquired
- Interact with different characters
- Change form by acquiring masks
- Exploits on the engine of Ocarina of Time
- Worlds are bigger and graphics are better due to the 4 MB expansion pak
Basically, Link starts from where The Ocarina of Time stopped. He starts to find an old friend and along the way he accidentally found a Termina, a mysterious island. Link heard that Termina was suffering because the moon keep crashing in to it and in just a few days the island will be totally crashed. And when Link was traveling through a thick forest two fairies managed to frighten his horse throwing him in to the ground. He came to know that the fairies are working for an all-around trouble maker and an evil masked thief. Link was angered when the fairies was playing with the Ocarina of Time which was given to him by Princess Zelda. The masked thief steals his horse and curses Link. This is where our mighty hero Link begins his journey. Only 72 hours left before the island of Termina will be completely eliminated and Link is not sure what the masked thief is up to but he is sure that a lot of people will be devastated when the island of Termina will be destroyed.

Nintendo did a great job in introducing the story. But if this is the first to buy Zelda Majora’s Mask and play it you need not worry because you can easily get the hang off it once you understand the story. But for those who already had the opportunity to play with the Ocarina of Time you will surely be in to the gameplay of the Majora’s Mask in a matter of seconds. Nintendo has proven that they did not need to rework storylines and gameplay just to come out with a nice piece of software.
